Long Slow Deep Yoga Event with Suzie Kellett
***DATE YET TO BE ADVISED***
What is Long Slow Deep Yoga?
Long Slow Deep is a sequence of Yin Yoga Poses creating stillness and calm in the body and mind. The practice assists one to invoke patience within while spending time in mindful meditation or breathing practices to remove blockages and open energy pathways or chi (life force) through the body.
Physiologically as we spend time in the poses, the yin tissues in the body (connective tissues including fascia, ligaments and tendons) will be placed under a healthy stress to promote a response in the body to strengthen the joints.
Some benefits of LSD to name a few, cultivates mindfulness based practices to improve patience, acceptance and letting go. Additionally the practice assists in healing and injury prevention.
Finding time for yourself to take space and relax in yin yoga poses encourages stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system (that takes care of rest and digest) which in turn helps to override the stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system otherwise known as fight and flight.
Learning how to breath and respond rather than 'flip your lid' and react is an important tool gained through the practice of yin yoga.
An over-stimulated sympathetic nervous system is a major factoring issue in those suffering from trauma based conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and anxiety to name a few, and the practice of yin yoga can be highly beneficial in treating stress and trauma as the practice brings you back to the body and teaches you how to be present in the moment.
Learn to transform tense energy to a steady flow and create some space for yourself.
